Questions, answered

How are subscriptions and Flares different?

Your subscription pays for software — the editor, unlimited local exports, included cloud renders, smart asset search, and queue priority. Flares are a prepaid balance that covers metered usage like AI generation and cloud-render overage.

Do you mark up AI model costs?

No. Model calls are billed at provider cost with no Flare markup — internally $1 of provider cost equals 250 Flares. The app shows an estimate before every generation or paid render.

Do Flares expire?

Purchased top-up Flares never expire. Flares included with a subscription are granted each cycle and reset at renewal.

Do I need a subscription to buy top-ups?

Yes. Top-ups are a benefit of subscribed workspaces. The current pack is $25 for 6,000 Flares, added to your workspace balance.

What happens if a generation or render fails?

Provider or system failures release the reserved Flares automatically. Cancelling after work has started, invalid inputs, policy violations, and abuse may not be refunded.

Are local exports metered?

No — local exports are part of the editor and unlimited. Cloud-render allowances apply only to standard server-side MP4 renders; 4K on Pro, long renders, and API or batch render use Flares.
